What Now? – Firmer Ground

Consider…
We aren’t the first to experience challenges, debilitating or otherwise. And we won’t be the last. Jesus told us that in this world, we will have trouble (John 16:33). “There is nothing new under the sun”, we are reminded in Scripture (Eccl. 1:9). That said, we don’t have to live lives of apprehension, anxiety, and fear, worrying about the unseen bogeyman. After all, those in Christ have been given a Spirit of power and love, not fear (2 Tim. 1:7). We are promised that the Lord will never leave us nor forsake us, even until the end of the age (Heb. 13:5; Matt. 28:20). We are far from alone, even by ourselves. The very Creator and Sustainer of all that exists is with us; in fact, He has already gone before us (Deut. 31:8). Do you have a pessimistic, fear-filled perspective and confession, or is your attitude shaped by God’s promises to us?

Prayer…
My Lord, Give me the wisdom to be prepared for the future (Luke 14:28).  Help me to live by faith, not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7). Fix my eyes on Jesus (Heb. 12:2), and my mind on that which is good (Phil. 4:8). Help me to guard my heart from words of death, and fill it with words of life (Prov. 4:23). Remind me that Your promises to me are “yes” and “amen” (2 Cor. 1:20). I rejoice in the knowledge that You are for me (Rom. 8:31). Because You love me, I’m more than a conqueror (Rom. 8:37)!
Thank You Jesus, Amen!
