Consider…
Rome wasn’t built in a day. Neither was that stronghold or addiction that has taken hold of you. Maybe it’s only a bad habit, but a habit nonetheless. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold (Eph. 4:27). I’m not a mountaineer or rock climber, but I’m guessing a mountain or rock is not scaled or summited without first establishing a foothold. Change my mind. Be it a root of bitterness (Heb. 12:15) or temptation (James 1:13-15), the longer it is ignored, accommodated, or nourished, it will increase in size, scope, stubbornness, and ultimately destruction.
Pray…
Lord, examine my heart and reveal anything that is quenching the work of Your Spirit in and through me (Psa. 139:23-24, 1Thes. 5:19). Deliver me from passivity, laziness, or fear (Pro. 6:9-11, Josh. 1:9). Find me faithful in doing what needs to be done when I need to do it (Pro. 10:5).
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
