Consider…
Jesus, in His humanity, lived His life in community. And as God the Son, certainly was within His rights to exercise His lordship (Phil. 2:5-7). He is the only One that was (and is) worthy of self-exultation, but instead chose to serve those with whom He had built relationships. He is our perfect example of how we are to give our lives to others (John 13:12-15). In essence, we demonstrate our relationship with Jesus not by taking selfies in church or when holding a Bible, but by keeping His commandments (John 14:15).
Pray…
Father, I want to be more like Jesus, and realize that He must increase, but I must decrease. Help me to do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than myself. Let me look not only to my own interests, but also to the interests of others. Because greater love has no one than this, make me willing to lay down my life for my friends. (John 3:30, Phil. 2:3-4, John 15:13)
Irony of Ironies…
Guess what my personal Facebook profile pic is? A selfie! Thankfully, God will finish the work He has started in me (Phil. 1:6)!
