Consider…
As a society, we have really lowered the bar as it concerns what we deem as decent. It’s evident in the media we produce and consume, the politicians we nominate and elect, and the way we speak to and act towards one another. Do we justify our goodness or the goodness of others on the absence of evil intent and action? I guess that’s one way. But to glorify the Lord, our lives need to exemplify what He calls good; loving Him and loving others. This is, after all, the Great Commandment (Matt. 22:37-40). Jesus’ love sacrificed everything; it was a tangible, physical act, not simply warm thoughts or affectionate feelings (John 3:16). More convicting, we are told if we know to do good yet do not do it, it is sin (James 4:17).
Pray…
Lord Jesus, fill me with Your spirit of love, that I would be willing to glorify you by laying down my life for others (John 15:12-13). In all things let me consider you, denying myself and picking up my cross, not growing weary and doing good to all (Matt. 16:24-25; Gal. 6:9-10).
In Your holy name, Amen.
