Hopefully we are smart enough to realize that in spite of the best technology and human ability to utilize it, weather forecasting is far from an exact science. Certain variables are ultimately beyond quantifying, although progress has been made in the accuracy of storm predictions. Trying to pinpoint future weather is not a new phenomena; Jesus made mention of His contemporaries doing the same thing (Matt. 16:2-3). He alluded to something much more significant than whether or not the next day would be ideal at the beach. He was warning His listeners, and by proxy us, that we should heed the evidence of the One that has come as the Messiah. He is our constant, our absolute, the Rock of our salvation (1 Pet. 2:6, 1 Cor. 10:4). He alone will never leave us, and is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb. 13:5,8). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life; It is He that will shepherd us through all that we will encounter on this side of eternity (John 14:6). If, that is, we follow Him (John 8:12).

Heavenly Father, Help me to wait patiently for You; incline to me and hear my cry. Draw me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, make my steps secure. Put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to You. May many see and fear, and put their trust in You. (Psa. 40:1-3)
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
