Consider…
Most of us, at least in comparison to the rest of the world, are experiencing an “embarrassment of riches”. If the technological development continues, we may look back on today and wonder how we ever survived such austere conditions. Our forebears would rightly rebuke us for whining about our perceived lack. The Apostle Paul knew both the embarrassment of riches and lack in extreme austerity. He said, “Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.” (Phil. 4:11-12) How? Continuing, he said, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” (Phil. 4:13)
Pray…
My Lord, Thank You for saving me. Help me to taste and see how good you are (Psa. 34:8), reminding me that when I delight in You, I will receive the desires of my heart (Psa. 37:4). Help me to seek You, Your kingdom and righteousness first, because You will then add all things to me (Matt. 6:33). Compel me to store my treasure in heaven, where moth and rust will not destroy (Matt. 6:19). In Christ, I’ve found the pearl of great price; nothing in this world will ever measure up (Matt. 13:45-46).
In His gracious name, Amen
