Consider…
The more we base our satisfaction in life on externalities, the more we will be wanting when those things prove to be lacking. And they will. All the bells and whistles of this life are temporary (2 Cor. 4:18); they are not meant to satisfy the longing of our hearts (Psalm 107:9). Filling our bellies, literally or figuratively, cannot fulfill our ultimate needs (John 6:26-27).
Pray…
Lord Jesus, Remind me that You will add all things to me as I seek You (Matt. 6:33). Help me to base my contentedness on you and Your promises to me (Heb. 13:5). Let Your word be my sustenance (Matt. 4:4), and may I be satisfied as I hunger and thirst for Your righteousness (Matt. 5:6).
In Your mighty name, Amen.
