Consider…
We all have to start somewhere, usually on the lowest rung of the ladder, the bottom level if you will. It is certainly acceptable to start there, because you have to start somewhere. But that is not the place we should be content to remain, especially if we are gifted and called to more. With very few exceptions, the movers and shakers in the world, those with tremendous influence, strived for greater, the “next level”. Steve Jobs was not content to figure out how a Casio pocket calculator worked and call it a day. Tom Brady didn’t take a seat on his couch and grab the Nintendo controller after a pretty good college football career. George Carlin didn’t rest on his laurels after making his friend Tommy laugh so hard he shot milk out of his nose. Au contraire, mon frère. Moses wasn’t complacent after a long stint of successful shepherding. And the Lord Jesus wasn’t satisfied to perform some miracles and fade into the sunset. As it concerns our faith, simply believing that Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so is an essential place to start, but not finish. We are called for much greater.
Pray…
Lord Jesus, Continue to assure me that You have chosen me to do your great work (Eph. 2:10). I acknowledge that apart from You, I cannot do it (John 15:5), but that You have sent me Your helper (John 14:16). Help me to allow your Spirit to increase in me that which You desire to mold me into Your image (Col. 1:9-10). Let me not be content to feed on spiritual milk, but to crave the meat of a deeper walk with You (Heb. 6:1), that I may grow in Your grace and admonition. (2 Pet. 3:18).
In Your matchless name, Amen.
