Consider…
We’ve all seen the power and influence of peer pressure, especially in adolescents and young adults. But when pride and arrogance mix with a competitive spirit and fear of embarrassment, no man is immune to being swayed to make bad decisions that lead to harmful or destructive actions. When our sense of identity, purpose, and worth is centered on who the Lord says we are, the need to impress others is all but neutralized. Realize this: there was and will never be one as secure in his manhood than Jesus. As we seek to imitate Him in our lives, His humble and meek confidence will be ours as well.
Pray…
Father, because I am a servant of Christ, increase my desire to seek the approval not of man, but of You, to please You and not man. By your Spirit, empower me to obey you, not man. In Jesus’ name, amen.
(Galatians 1:10, Acts 5:29)
Be Warned…
This is an iconic example of the hazards of peer pressure. Even when “Triple Dog Dared”, don’t succumb to the urge to “go along to get along”.
