Consider…
Life, and more importantly our spiritual growth, is difficult enough without it being sabotaged by ourselves or others. My son is a rock climber. Before ascending a boulder or rock face, he doesn’t try to add extra weight or strap unneeded odds and ends to himself. Quite the opposite. He only carries that which is essential. Knowing the type of climb (bouldering, sport climbing) determines what equipment he will take. On a sport climb, he’ll bring quick draws to hang on the fixed bolts, a rope to catch him, climbing shoes, a harness on which to attach the rope, and a knee bar pad for extra grip on his knee so he doesn’t tear his skin. For bouldering, just shoes and chalk. If it isn’t useful, it only hinders the climb.
Pray…
Lord God, Because I am surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, help me also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and help me run with endurance the race that is set before me. Fix my eyes on Jesus, the founder and perfecter of my faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the
throne of God. Compel me to consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that I may not grow weary or fainthearted. (Heb. 12:1-3)
In the name of Jesus my savior, Amen.
Because Its There…
My son Kenny the rock climber.
