Consider…
As consumers, we wouldn’t settle for a good meal, bed, car, iPhone, flux capacitor, or whatever, if we could have a better, even the best version. Yet we can be easily anaesthetized into a life of lukewarm Christianity by the world and its fleeting comfort and security. Moses, instead of enjoying his privileged position as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, chose to identify himself with the people of God, his people. He experienced hardship and mistreatment for doing so, but received a great reward because he chose the Best. We are reminded that our time on earth is but a mist (James 4:14), and that all material possessions will cease to exist (2 Pet. 3:10). For the believer, eternity in heaven is reality, so our lives should be spent on that which will always exist (Mat. 6:19-21). Ultimately, it is the only thing that matters.
Pray…
Father in heaven, constantly remind me that there is nothing better than knowing Christ and His surpassing worth (Phil.3:8), that I can’t both love You and the world (1 John 2:15). Increase my desire to do your will, that I will abide forever (1 John 2:17). Faith pleases you, so compel me seek You and the true reward (Heb. 11:6).
In the name of Your Son Jesus, amen.
