“and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened.” (Acts 16:26 ESV)
Imagine, if you will, being jailed behind iron bars, with shackles of iron binding your ankles. And at once, the barred door swings open and the manacles fall from your legs. You are free! So how do you respond? Do you marvel at the broken shackles and open door, satisfied that you are no longer restricted by them? That would be highly doubtful! More likely, you would take advantage of your newfound liberty to move from the place of your captivity into the expanse of freedom. Similarly, why would we be content only with our heavenly pardon, when the Governor of our souls has thrown open the doors of His grace, inviting us to walk with Him in the Promised Land of His abundant provision?
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36 ESV)
“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1 ESV)
