Consider…
Recently, the term “adulting” has come into vogue. We get it, and it’s kind of funny. What is less humorous are people that regard “adulting” as more of an activity to be done when one feels like it or when it is convenient, rather than what it really is: life. Avoiding the responsibilities that are inherent with maturity only compound the misery on the inevitable day when it is time to pay the piper. From a secular perspective, being a responsible adult is an expected, admirable goal. The Christian is called to this and so much more, spiritually speaking. “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.” (1 Cor. 13:11)
Pray…
Lord, build me up and mature me in Your Spirit that I would be an instrument of unity in the faith and knowledge of Christ, realizing the measure of the stature of His fullness, that others and myself would stand firm in doctrine and not be deceived (Eph. 4:11-14). Help me to speak the truth in love, and grow up in every way into Your Son, working together with others to make the body grow and build itself up in love (Eph. 4:15-16). Feed me with Your word, that I might teach others (Heb. 5:12-13). Firmly root and build me up in Christ so I will walk in Him (Col. 2:6-7).
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
