Consider…
Do you remember when you asked a parent, probably your mom, “Can me and my friends crawl through the storm drain pipes to Bond Mill Woods?” “Can you, or may you”, she might have responded. There is no shortage of things we can do, but should we? We can eat ourselves into a sugar induced coma. We can watch what we want on TV, or surf where we want on the web. We can partake of the world’s pleasures, spend money we don’t have, or waste our time on that which is utterly useless. A better question to consider, as it concerns our sanctification, is “May we”, and still serve and glorify the Lord?
Pray…
Lord, Your word says that I cannot love You and the world, that the things of the world are not from You (1 John 2:15-16). Give me the discernment to know which things are lawful but not helpful, and give me strength to avoid that which can dominate me (1 Cor. 6:12). Constantly remind me that I am not my own, that I was bought for a price, and my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19-20).
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
