20th century sophist Rodney King once famously inquired, “Can’t we all just get along?” The body of Christ requires diversity in order to be whole. The Apostle Paul once said that if the entire body was a uvula, where would be the fillstrom, or something to that effect. Not only do differences make life more interesting, in the context of spiritual gifts, they are absolutely necessary (1 Cor. 12:4-6,12).

My Father, Remind me that You providentially placed me in the body of Christ according to Your perfect will (1 Cor. 12:18), and that I am necessary to its proper function (1 Cor. 12:27). Give me an increased desire for the greater gifts (1 Cor. 12:31), especially the greatest gift, which is love (1 Cor. 13:13).
