Consider…
It doesn’t take a seminary level study of the Bible to realize that we do have an enemy (1 Pet. 5:8) and are engaged in warfare (Eph. 6:10-18). The consequences of having an expensive robot destroyed on a national stage, while potentially devastating to those involved, pale in comparison to losing spiritual battles. Part of the enjoyment in watching BattleBots is the suspense of wondering who will win, unless the vintage toaster with the pointy hammer is fighting. While we may get dinged and suffer loss in a battle, there is no suspense in who will ultimately prevail. Because Christ is our Champion, we win the war (1 Cor. 15:57)!
Pray…
Father, a seed must die before it will bear fruit (John 12:24). Help me to take up my cross daily (Mark 8:34) and offer myself as a living sacrifice (Rom. 12:1). Surround me with brothers that will stand with me in battle (Pro. 17:17, John 15:13) and equip me to do the same for them. Remind me that I win spiritual battles with spiritual weapons (2 Cor. 10:3-5), that You are my strength and shield (Psa. 28:7), and that the battle is Yours (2 Chr. 20:15). Compel me to always seek your plan (Pro. 16:3) and cry out to You when things don’t go as expected (Psa. 46:1). I praise You, Lord, that I stand in you as an overcomer (John 16:33, 1 John 4:4)!
Revisionist History…
I’m not saying that this is the only reason the Pilgrims came to this great land, but surely it is one of them. I lol’ed hard while watching it.
