Consider…
We do a lot of necessary things to sustain ourselves physically. Without eating, we will eventually die. Our bodies need fuel for energy. We all know that the better and cleaner the fuel, the better we will function and the healthier we will be. It is good to take care ourselves. While important, our lives consist of much more than what we eat (Mat. 6:25). We are much more than biological machines. Our true essence is that which is unseen, our souls. Is it unreasonable to think that it is more vital to consume “soul food” (John 6:51)?
“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”
Pray…
Father, forgive me for settling for anything that only satisfies my flesh (John 6:27). Because only You can truly satisfy my longing and hungry soul with good things, incline my ear to You, that I might listen carefully to You, and eat what is good, and delight myself in abundance. (Psa. 107:9, Isa. 55:2)
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
