Consider…
So much of nature, or life in general, seems innocuous, at least from a distance. At last count, there are over 5,000 types of flora and fauna that appear edible at the very least, even tasty at most, that will kill us. Actually, I made that number up but it could be true. And I’m not sure what flora and/or fauna is, but for the sake of argument, I hope its plants. Many animals, or critters as zoologists refer to them, are also deceptively hazardous. Consider the hippopotamus as exhibit A. According to Wikipedia, “Hippos are among the most dangerous animals in the world due to their aggressive and unpredictable nature.” I could do actual research and cite statistics, but I don’t care that much. From a spiritual standpoint, we don’t have to seek after danger; on the contrary, it, or he, seeks us (1 Pet. 5:8). Prayerfully consider your relationships, habits, and media intake (1 Cor. 15:33, 1 Cor. 10:13, Psalm 101:3). Partner with a trusted fellow believer or two for objectivity and accountability (Pro. 11:14, Pro. 27:17, James 5:16). Time is of the essence (Eph. 5:15-16).
Pray…
Faithful Lord, In You I live, move, and have my very being (Acts 17:28). Show me where I have allowed myself to be conformed to the world or fooled by the devil, and give me victory in those areas (Rom. 12:2, Eph. 6:11). Expose in me any sin in my heart, even that which I’m not aware (Psalm 139:23-24). Clothe me with Christ, so that I will not make provisions for the flesh (Rom. 13:14). Cause me to keep Your statutes and seek You with all my heart, so that I will be blessed, do nothing wrong, and walk in Your ways (Psalm 119:2-3).
In Your Son’s name and for Your glory, Amen.
