Most of us will remember that in the movie bearing his name, renowned theologian Forrest Gump said that he and Jenny went together like “peas and carrots”. Certain things just seem to belong together. To those of us that remember having to physically get up and change the channel (usually only 4 from which to choose) on the television, we may associate news with paper, lock with key, steak with potato, Simon with Garfunkel, MTV with music. These days? Maybe cable with news, Key with Peele, Steak with Shake, Simon with Cowell, and MTV with vapid, inane “reality” programming. But throughout the generations, there are certain combinations that were given to us by our Creator to enhance, improve, and complete us as people. Essential to our well being are relationships, first with the Lord Jesus and then with others (Mat. 22:37-39).
As men, we tend to struggle in building and maintaining vital, complementary relationships. From the Scriptures we find numerous examples of guys that intentionally spent time with other guys (Pro. 27:17). Even Jesus, the Perfect Man, had his “go-to” brothers. Some of the greatest men in history, Moe, Larry, and Curly had each other, for crying out loud! And what man hasn’t carefully studied them as role models? Spread out, chowderheads! The intention of this website, to echo what the Bible has already shown us, is to “connect guys to timeless, biblical truths that will improve their most essential relationships: those with God, his wife and/or family, and other men.” Our prayer is that you will both enjoy and be blessed by your time spent here.
