Consider…
Observing the people, places, objects, and circumstances around us is all well and good. Though as Christians, we cannot simply see to take in images and data. We need to be intentional, letting the Lord inform us on what to do with what we see. Not everything can or should provoke in us deep reflection. We would suffer the paralysis of analysis. But we don’t want to miss out on a chance to give thanks for what the Lord is revealing, or to bring His Spirit to bear in the life of an image bearer He has put before us. It is then that we bring glory to Jesus as we appreciate what He has shown us and obey His Spirit’s call in that moment.
Pray…
Father in heaven, I want to see with eyes of faith, not simply by sight (2 Col. 5:7). Open the eyes of my heart that I may see Your hand at work (Eph. 1:18), and let me taste and see how good you are (Psa. 34:8). Provoke my spirit within me by what I see (Acts 17:16), that I may be compelled to speak Your word (Acts 17:24-28). Holy Spirit, reveal to me what You have prepared for those who love You (1 Cor. 2:9-10).
In Your Son’s name, Amen.
Do I See What I Think I See?
This is an Escher drawing. Mind boggling, yes?
