Consider…
Living in a fallen world is not without peril. Life is a contact sport, Ken Kragen told us in the title of his book. There are certain things we can do to mitigate the odds that we will be harmed. Sometimes, it seems as though we have big targets on our backs, and injury is unavoidable. Factor in the reality that we do have an enemy that desires nothing less than our destruction (John 10:10), and it would behoove us to be situationally and spiritually aware. We could bubble wrap ourselves and never leave the couch, but it would impossible to fulfill our Lord’s Great Commission if we did. Not only that, but the people in our house would constantly try to pop us. And I’m fairly certain it would be hard to breathe. Even when, or especially when we are doing what Jesus would have us do, we are not immune to danger. Read Paul’s curriculum vitae for a taste of his “best life now”.

Pray…
My Father, Help me to always be faithful (1 Cor. 4:2), to run the race set before me without growing weary (Heb 12:1-3). Prepare me, physically and spiritually, for the hazards and attacks I will surely suffer for Your name’s sake (Phil. 4:13; Eph. 6:10-17). Help me to be alert (1 Pet. 5:8), to remember that all things work together for my own good (Rom. 8:28). Give me faithful brothers to help lead a life that glorifies You (2 Tim. 4:11). Remind me that You are my strong tower, my place of safety (Prov. 18:10).
In Christ’s name I pray, Amen.
