Consider…
Wouldn’t it be great to fight bulls and race cars safely, ensconced in our personal forcefields? Admittedly, there seems to be a magnetic draw to living on the edge, taking risks and thumbing our figurative noses at danger. For non-daredevils, this may be experienced vicariously, watching endeavors where a slight miscalculation can lead to injury or death. For a trophy, world record, or necessary paycheck, we understand, even applaud the ones engaged in hazardous undertakings. But all too often we find ourselves jeopardizing that which is of transcendent, eternal value because we ventured too close to the edge, whatever that edge is. Where are you allowing your eyes or mind to wander? What do you consider an acceptable amount of temptation? Is what you deem appropriate based on the fallen culture around you, or the word of God? When we stand before the Lord, and we all will, I’m certain that our willingness to frolic in the world’s playground will not impress Him. The road to destruction is wide; we do well to avoid it entirely (Matt. 7:13).
Pray…
My Father, Your word clearly states that I cannot love You and the things of the world, that the world and its desires are passing away. You tell me that I will abide forever when I do Your will. (1 John 2:15-17) Constantly remind me of Your sacrificial love, that in Christ You remember my sin no more (Rom. 5:8; Heb. 8:12). Compel me by Your grace to live a life worthy of the gospel (Phil. 1:27), to be holy as You are holy (1 Pet. 1:15). When faced with temptation, show me the way of escape You’ve provided (1 Cor. 10:13). Clothe me with the Lord Jesus Christ, that I would make no provision for the flesh to gratify its desires (Rom. 13:14).
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
The Street Near Her Corner…
In Proverbs 7, we read about a man that was caught up in sexual immorality. This is an ever present possibility for men, and we need to be spiritually vigilant to avoid it. Below is a link to a Bible study that examines the circumstances and ultimate fall of an average guy. It was originally intended for a group, but could also be beneficial in a personal study. Avail yourself of the many powerful resources to maintain sexual integrity. Your marriage, family, and walk with Lord depend on it. Don’t wait.
